The Clippers return to the St Louis Park C level this year.

We have 13 guys this year.   So the first three who let me know get a "free out" and after that, you have to find your own sub.

9-7, 196 runs for and 199 runs against, 5th place out of 12 teams

Mortgage Capitol

When they finally got in the groove, they really hit the ball well and actually had 4 HRs in the 2nd game, but the ump didn't notice.  #9 hits deep to RF.

W 10-5.  The rain hit hard in the first inning but the Clippers were ready for the season.  Joe was working on his PowerPoint and Ed's dry box was a thing of beauty.  The rain let up and ended up being a great night for softball.  We got to an early 7-2 lead and never let them back in.  Good defense helped.

W 25-22.  This was a game of rules, but I won't bore Jupe again.  We batted around in the first and second inning.  20-2 after 2.  We gave up 14 in the 5th to actually make it close.  Great hitting by both teams.

Aase & Kirscher

Every one of these guys crushed the ball.  2 lefties.  #34 likes to go deep to RF.  #25 lefty hit 2 out in center.  #44 pull hitter to LF.  #42 lefty hit everything to 2B.  #22 hit looper to LF every time.  #16 hits up the middle.  They played great D.

L 9-19  Fairly close game, but their defense was tough and they got runs in all but the 1st inning.

L 11-15  After giving up 9 runs in the 1st inning, we were mentally out of this game.  We actually held them to only 1 run in their last 5 innings and made it close in the end.

Isotopes

A young team with a good infield and a bad outfield.  But our lazy fly balls were easy enough to catch.  Green dirty 3B guy wears tennis shoes and can still hit home runs.

L 14-19 We just couldn't keep from hitting fly balls in this game.  This was the glove throwing team and also the 2B who skipped his spot in the batting order after cutting his finger.

W 14-6 Bill managed to get tossed int his one.  The ump was pretty worked up and was taking everything personally.  We played good defense and kept their scoring under control.

Big Ten Dingleberries

All right handed players, but a few of them like to hit to RC.  One smaller guy hits liners to left field every time.  Their right fielder was the only one to hit one out.  The pitcher struggled a lot and threw a lot of flat pitches, but it was very windy.  1B had a good stretch.

L 14-15  We really blew this one.  We played a great defensive game and went into the bottom of the 7th with a 7 run lead.  They didn't swing the bat, got on base and hit a few clutch singles to win the game.

L 3-19  We never recovered from the first game.  We also didn't force the pitcher to pitch to us.  5 walks in game 1 and none in game 2.  We had some errors in the field and only put up 3 runs this game.

PT Navy

L 4-14 Too many errors in the field gave PT Navy a 7 run cushion after the 4th inning.   Despite Ed going 3 for 3, the Clippers couldn't get runs on the board.

W 11-4 This is why we do double headers.  The tables were turned in the 4th and this time it was the Clippers who put up 6 runs.  That was enough to last.  Klubber had a great game at the plate scoring 4 times and hitting 3 for 3 with a solo HR.  Ed and Tom added to the cause each hitting 3 for 4.

Icemen

#8 SS and the bald LF are their 2 home run hitter.  Their LCF and RCF are both very quick and hit to the left side of the field every time.  Lots of action at 3B when playing against this team.

W 16-6 We scored in every inning and shut them out in the 1st four innings.  They were mentally out of this game by the 5th inning.  Kayne went 3 for 4 and Jupe went 3 for 3 with a SAC.

W 20-15 Quite possibly the best Clipper comeback of all time.  We were down by 7 in the top of the 7th.  We had 2 men on with 2 outs.  Then the impossibly happened.  The next 9 batters got on base.  Granted, they gave us two errors, but with 2 outs everyone was running.  We scored 12 runs to take a 5 run lead, which we held in the bottom of the 7th.

Old Tom could make this one.

G.B.ers

#4 hits lazy flies to RF.  LF has good arm.  1 lefty SS.  #2 RF had tennis shoes.  3B good arm but not great and fielding - hits hard to the left side.  #10 and #12 hit to short left field.

W 11-7 The return of Old Tom.  Roth went 4 for 7 on the night with a home run.  Good to see you back on the field!  The first game wasn't ever in question.  They only scored 3 runs in the first 4 innings.

W 14-13 They made this game a little closer.  We took a big lead in the 5th inning up 11-5.  But they came back and made it a one run game in the end.  We had 1-2-3 7th inning but we were able to hold them to only 1 run in the 7th.

4 lefties on this team, but none of them are power hitters, #20 hits to both sides & deep balls up the middle, #17 power hitter to the left side, #13 pitcher hits to both sides - not deep.  Their LF had a great day and caught everything in his direction.  1B had trouble getting to the base before the throws.

W 8-7 Bill gets a nice walk-off home run to lead off the 7th and end the game.  Could be a Clipper first?  Good defensive game by both teams.  We actually started the game with 6 runs but then struggled at the plate after that.

L 12-13 Another close game and this time we ended up on the losing end.  They won it in the bottom of the 7th with 0 outs.  They hit the ball much better this game.  We were more consistent, but they had a big 7 run inning in the 5th.
