Sheep Win the C State Championship!

Friday - Sunday, March 19-21, Chaska MN - Rink 2.

On March 21st at the Chaska community center, the Inflatable Party Sheep captured their first ever C level state championship!  There were 9 teams in the tournament; 1 from Duluth, 1 from Fargo and 7 from the metro area.  The Sheep gave up only 2 goals in the entire tournament and were the only team not to lose a game in pool play.  The Sheep got a chance to play against the Meerkats and Liberty Bail - the only two teams to beat the Sheep this year in the Winter Carnival tournament.  The victory was a team effort at many levels.  We managed to kill keep our opponents from scoring on three power plays and Brian even scored on one of the penalty kills.  In the Sheep's 5-1 victory over Liberty Bail, 5 separate Sheep found the opponent's goal.  Overall, a great team effort and excellent defense!  The tournament trophy was awarded to the Sheep's very own "Let's Go" Al in the nets.  LET'S GO SHEEP!

Game 1, Pool play, Fri 8:50 pm, Sheep tie Hoppers 0-0.

Play of the game:  I have to give this one to Lou - the Hoppers goalie.  He was the only goalie we couldn't score on.  Nice game Lou!

Game 2, Pool play, Sat 5:10 pm, Sheep defeat Meerkats 1-0.

Play of the game:  Jessi, Ann and Kevin combine to put one in the net for the only goal of the game.  Jessi was actually laying in the crease as she hit the ball in the net.  Luckily, the ball was in the crease with her!

Game 3, Pool C 1st Seed, Sun 9:45 am, Sheep defeat Liberty Bail 5-1.

Play of the game:  A balanced offensive attack.  5 separate goal scorers:  Brian, Ann, Jodi, Jessi, Janis.  Nice work!

Game 4, Semi-final, Sun 5:10 pm, Sheep defeat Coaches Choice 4-1.

Play of the game:  Brian for his hat trick and his short handed goal.  At first it just looked like he was going to dump it and kill the clock.  But the afterburners kicked in and he went coast to coast, beat the goalie and completed his hat trick!

Game 5, Championship, Sun 7:00 pm, Sheep defeat Meerkats 1-0.

Play of the game:  Al gets this one for a great shutout in the biggest game.  The Meerkats pulled their goalie and had a few key shots on net, but Al withstood the pressure.  Take it to the BANK!
